You have selected your scent, curated your space, and are ready to light the wick. But a luxury candle is more than just a flame—it is a relationship. To get the cleanest burn and the safest experience from your Laycock Candle, a little care goes a long way.

Here is how to master the ritual.

1. The First Burn is Crucial
Candle wax has a "memory." When you light your candle, always allow the wax to melt to the edge of the vessel.

Why? This prevents "tunneling"—where the wax burns down the center and wastes the wax on the sides.

The Goal: A full, edge-to-edge melt pool ensures every burn after that is even and clean.

2. Trim the Wick
Before every burn, trim the wick to 1/4" tall.

Why? A long wick creates a high, dancing flame. Keeping it trimmed keeps the wax clean (no debris) and ensures it burns nicely and safely.

The Ritual: Use a wick trimmer or small scissors to snip the tip before lighting.

3. Watch the Time
As tempting as it is to keep the scent going all evening, avoid excessive burn time.

Recommendation: Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

Why? This prevents the jar from becoming too hot and ensures the fragrance doesn't "burn off" too quickly.

4. Know When to Say Goodbye
It is sad to see a favorite candle end, but you must know when to extinguish it for the final time.

The Rule: Always leave 1/2cm of wax at the bottom of the jar.

Why? Never burn a candle all the way down to the glass. Leaving a small buffer of wax prevents the bottom of the jar from overheating and damaging the surface underneath.
1. Avoid excessive burn time, no more than 4 hours is recommended

Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects and drafts

Allow candle to melt to the edge of the vessel. This prevents future tunneling

Never leave a burning candle unattended, always leave 1/2cm at the bottom of any candle to avoid overheating.

Trim the wick to 1/4 " tall before every burn to keep the wax clean and burning nicely
