Wax Melt Care and Safety Guide
Getting the best from your Laycock Candles wax melts is straightforward. Follow these simple guidelines and every melt will perform exactly as it should.
How to Use Your Wax Melts
Start by removing all packaging from the wax melt. Place one piece into the dish of your ceramic burner or electric warmer.
For ceramic burners, use a standard unscented 4-hour tealight. Do not use 8-hour tealights. The extended heat can cause the burner to overheat and crack, which is both a safety risk and a waste of a beautiful burner.
For electric warmers, simply switch on and allow the wax to begin melting.
Allow the aroma to fill the room and do not burn for more than four hours at a time.
Safety First
These are not suggestions. Please follow them every time.
Never leave a burning tealight or active electric warmer unattended. If you leave the room, extinguish the tealight or switch off the warmer before you go.
Place your burner on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface well out of reach of children and pets. Keep it away from draughts, curtains and anything flammable. Do not position it near an open window or under a shelf.
Always keep wax melts out of reach of children and pets. Wax melts are not edible and should never be handled by young children unsupervised.
Never attempt to move the burner while the wax is molten or the tealight is still lit. The dish will be hot and the liquid wax can spill and cause burns.
Do not add water or fragrance oils to the wax. Use the wax melts as they are.
How to Change Your Scent
When the fragrance has faded, remove the old wax before adding anything new. Never pour wax down the sink or drain as it will solidify and cause a blockage.
There are two easy methods for removing used wax.
The Pop-Out Method
Light a tealight beneath the solid wax for just 30 to 60 seconds. This gently melts the very bottom layer and allows the solid disc of wax to slide out cleanly. Wipe the dish with a paper towel and it is ready for the next melt.
The Soak-Up Method
While the wax is fully molten, drop a few cotton wool balls into the dish and allow them to absorb the liquid wax. Discard the cotton wool in the bin and wipe the dish clean with a paper towel.
Please take extra care with the soak-up method. Molten wax is very hot and can burn skin on contact. Allow the burner to cool slightly before touching the ceramic and keep children and pets well away during this process.
Storing Your Wax Melts
To preserve the fragrance strength of your wax melts, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators. A cupboard or drawer works well. Avoid bathrooms and windowsills where temperature and light can affect the fragrance over time.
Stored correctly, your wax melts will hold their scent beautifully until you are ready to use them. Always keep wax melts out of reach of children and pets.
